Smart Families empowers families to engage thoughtfully and intentionally with technology, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding human dignity, focus, and family values. Their core community norms include:
- Prioritizing family and shared values.
- Delaying smartphones for children until high school.
- Delaying social media usage until around age 16.
- Promoting a phone-free school day to support attention and learning.
By partnering with schools, Smart Families provides presentations, newsletters, and resources that help parents and students navigate our digital age with integrity, balance, and faith.

At St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, we are proud to bring Smart Families into our community with two key parent-and-family events:
- Thursday, September 25 at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM — A presentation by Dr. Crystal Collier introducing the Smart Families framework and its relevance for our families.
- Tuesday, January 27 at 5:30 PM — “Follow Me / Family Code” night for all STA families, with dinner provided! This session will deepen our discussion, assist families with practical implementation, and foster community around our shared goals.
We hope every family will attend these opportunities — they’re highly encouraged, though not required. Your participation helps us build a stronger home-school partnership.
