Student Learning Support Programs

Our school is committed to providing individualized support to help students with a variety of educational needs succeed academically and develop confidence as learners. We work collaboratively with families, local public schools, and outside specialists to provide services and accommodations based on each student's individual needs.

Public School Partnership and Related Services

Through our partnership with Public School 259, students who qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) may receive related services at school. These services may include:

  • Physical Therapy (PT)
  • Occupational Therapy (OT)
  • Speech Therapy

Our goal is to work alongside the public school system to ensure students receive the services outlined in their educational plans.

Private Specialists and Individualized Support

In addition to our partnership with the public school system, we collaborate with private specialists to provide additional support when appropriate. Our resources include:

  • Speech therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Specialized tutoring for students with dyslexia
  • A play-based therapist

These services allow us to address students' individual learning, developmental, and social-emotional needs.

Testing and Classroom Accommodations

We provide a dedicated Testing Room where students can complete weekly tests in a quiet, reduced-distraction environment. This setting can be particularly helpful for students who benefit from additional focus and fewer environmental distractions.

Students who qualify for a read-aloud accommodation can receive this support in our Learning Lab.

Reading and Math Intervention

Three times each year, we assess students' reading and math skills to monitor academic progress. Based on assessment results and individual ability levels, students are placed into appropriate instructional tiers.

Learning Support for Grades 6-8

Middle school students have access to additional academic supports designed to help them become more independent and successful learners. Support may include:

  • Study Skills Class – focused on organization, study strategies, time management, and other skills needed for academic success.
  • Book Study Class – provides additional support with reading comprehension, analysis, and engagement with grade-level texts.
  • Individualized Support with Mrs. Wilcox – students may work directly with Mrs. Wilcox for additional academic guidance and support based on their individual needs.

Our Approach

Our student support program is designed to provide multiple levels of support, from classroom accommodations and small-group intervention to specialized services and individualized assistance. Through regular assessment, collaboration with families and outside providers, and ongoing monitoring of student progress, we strive to identify students' needs early and provide the appropriate level of support to help every student grow.
