Should Kansas voters choose their own State Supreme Court Justices?
Review the facts before you vote on the August 4 Primary Ballot:
The proposed Kansas judicial selection amendment is a critical, high-stakes decision that will shape Kansas’s future. A YES vote would change how Kansas selects its Supreme Court justices.
Currently, Kansas Supreme Court justices are picked by a special commission. Most members of that commission are lawyers chosen by other lawyers, and the governor can select from the three names the commission chooses. If the amendment passes, this commission would be removed, and Supreme Court justices would be chosen by voters in regular elections, giving the public—not a lawyer‑controlled panel—the final say.
A brief presentation on this amendment will be offered in the Assembly Room after the noon Mass on Sunday, July 26, with time for questions.
