Gwen Anne (Adams) Sevart, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Gwen was born at home in rural Montgomery County, Kansas on November 22, 1931, to Orville Ray and Dora Jane (Duncan) Adams. She was raised in the Coffeyville, Kansas area. She graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School and earned her associate’s degree from Coffeyville Junior College. On November 22, 1952, she married John Bart Sevart. Following her husband’s service in the Air Force during the Korean War, they settled in Wichita, Kansas. Gwen worked along with her husband and was Co-Owner and Vice President of Advance Technology, Inc.
During Gwen’s lifetime, while raising 8 children, she always found time to volunteer with organizations that were near and dear to her heart. Among these organizations were: Girl Scouts, St. Thomas Aquinas Altar Society, WSU Dames, Meals on Wheels, Roots and Wings, Foster Grandparents, Music Theatre of Wichita Guild, Kansas Children’s Service League, Harry Hynes Friends of Hospice, Monicans, Agatharians, Tri Psi, and various other organizations.
Along with her husband, Gwen was on the building committee for St. Thomas Aquinas Church. The completion of the project gave her such joy. She was an avid bridge player and was instrumental in forming the St. Thomas Aquinas bridge group. She made lasting friendships in her various bridge groups.
Besides her volunteer work and bridge playing, nothing was more important than her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dora Adams; her husband, John Bart; grandsons Matthew Hyder and Christopher Dewey; brother-in-law, George Rutherford; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.
She is survived by her sister, Nina Rutherford of Coffeyville, KS; and sister-in-law, Shoko Sevart of Wichita; children, Elizabeth Hyder, Carol (David) Grisamore, Mark (Chris) Sevart, E. Michelle Reed, Linda (Martin) Smoll, Marilyn (Tim) Berry, Kevin Sevart, and Jennifer (Jeff) Long, all of the Wichita area; 42 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 on the way.

Rosary will be at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2025; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1321 N. Stratford, Wichita, KS 67206. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Meals on Wheels, 200 S. Walnut, Wichita, KS 67213, and St. Anthony Family Shelter, 256 N. Ohio Ave., Wichita, KS 67214.
