Parish Mission with Fr. Simeon

Back by popular demand, Fr. Simeon Gallagher will present our 2018 Parish Mission, October 22-25. The theme will be “Losing and Rediscovering God”.

Born in Philadelphia, Fr. Simeon was ordained a priest of the Order Friars Minor Capuchin on Aug. 28, 1971. He worked in campus ministry at Fort Hays State University and later served as co-pastor at Good Shepherd Church in Shawnee. In 1980, he went to Colorado where he served as pastor at Holy Cross Parish in Thornton. His preaching ministry began in 1984 and has taken him to St. Patrick’s Fraternity and St. Crispin Friary in St. Louis, Mo., and to St. Elizabeth Fraternity and St. Francis of Assisi Friary in Denver. He has presented many parish missions and retreats to religious communities and open retreats in retreat centers. This will be the third time we welcome Fr. Simeon to our parish.

Fr. Simeon will give his Parish Mission talks at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day. The morning sessions will be condensed versions. The evening sessions will be presented as Liturgies of the Word and will be one hour to 90 minutes in length. In accordance with the recommendation made in the pastoral letter of the NCCB Were Not Our Hearts on Fire, the intended audience for a Parish Mission is the adult community of a parish; therefore, Fr. Simeon’s Mission talks will not be appropriate for youngsters or teenagers. A reception will be held in Allen Hall following Fr. Simeon’s presentation of Thursday night.

Fr. Matt requests that all adult parishioners attend all the Parish Mission sessions, either in the morning, evening, or a combination of both so he has cleared the Church and School calendars of potential conflicts. Click here to register for childcare, which will be offered for children ages one and older, during the evening presentations.
