Fr. Matt is excited to share that the statue of Fr. Kapaun which he commissioned for our parish has been delivered! The statue, which which is five feet in height, is based upon the famous image of Fr. Kapaun celebrating Mass on the hood of his jeep during the Korean War.
The statue was produced by Demetz Art Studio in Italy and it is hand-carved of linden wood.
Below is a slide show of the delivery, unpacking, and placing of the statue. (The statue is temporarily placed next to the altar in the church. It will be moved to the Church Vestibule after a week where it will remain until after Fr. Kapaun is canonized.)
Below is a slide show of the statue design and making, beginning with the first sketch through the painting phase.
