The Lord asks us to care for those in need; thus, in doing so, we will be ministering to Him. He reminds us to care for the poor, the suffering, the hungry, the homeless. All of us should examine how well we are tending to the least among us. How often do we go into the streets to serve Him (as Pope Francis instructs us), instead of simply turning our heads and looking away? We have the extraordinary opportunity to follow the Lord’s will by joining in our ministry of “Warming Souls”
Our parish Respect Life and Social Justice Apostolate has registered for eight nights in February and March to feed and comfort the homeless men in the downtown area. This mission is not to be confused with The Lord’s Diner. At “Warming Souls”, an Interfaith Ministries project, the men are able to eat, to relax, and to sleep in comfort, warmth, and security. Hot, full-course dinners, light breakfast and snacks, and personal necessities (hats, sox, tee shirts, etc.) are provided.
