To assist parents with the faith formation of their children who do not attend our parish school, we offer religious education classes through our Parish School of Religion, or “PSR”, program. The program is designed to foster full and active participation in the parish through developing a knowledge of, and devotion to, the Catholic Church, Her beliefs, traditions, and rituals. Through PSR, we not only strive to educate our children and deepen their spirituality, we provide knowledge and resources for parents to reinforce and expand on what is taught in the classroom.
Many exciting changes to PSR are being implemented for the upcoming year. From incorporating PSR into our youth ministries program (rather than a stand-alone program) to purchasing improved curriculum, developing standards for each grade level, and providing teachers with more appropriate training and resources, we are determined to make our Parish School of Religion the best of its kind.
One of the most significant changes to PSR this year is an adjustment to the day/time the classes will be held. Rather than on Sunday morning, PSR will be on Wednesday from 6:00-7:15 p.m. This change is founded on the desires of our parish families (we heard you!) and the availability of our fine catechists who dedicate hours upon hours to teaching PSR classes. We also believe that having PSR on Wednesday will provide PSR families more/better opportunities to be active in the life and mission of the parish.
