There are three choirs operating at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish for weekend Masses: 5:00 pm Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings and at the 10:30 am and Noon Masses on Sundays. Curt Smith is Director of the 5:00 pm Mass choir. It focuses on contemporary music. Practices are on Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm. The 10:30 am Mass Choir and Instrumentalists group focuses on traditional choral literature, including works by Palestrina, Bach, Handel and Mozart. Ability to read music is helpful, but not required. If you are interested in playing your instrument (trumpet, flute, violin, etc.) at Masses or on other occasions, your assistance would be most welcome. Mike Lawless directs this choir which practices on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 pm. The Youth and Young Adult Choir for ages 13-35 sings at the Noon Mass on Sundays. They are directed by Erin Reazin. Practices are on Tuesday nights at 6:00 pm. The choirs or a combination thereof sing at special parish events, at Christmas and Easter, and sometimes at community functions. The organist and cantor are used at the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays. For more information on joining a choir or being a cantor, please contact Terri Dondlinger, Director of Music Apostolate. |
