There are four choirs operating at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish for weekend Masses: 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings; 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass; Noon Sunday Mass (first Sunday of the month).
Curt Smith is Director of the 5:00 pm Mass choir. It focuses on contemporary music. Both vocalists and instrumentalists are invited to participate. Practices are on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm.
Tom Wierman is the Director of the 9:00 a.m. Mass choir. Music style is based primarily on contemporary Catholic composers. Vocal experience is not necessary. Ability to read music is helpful but not necessary for participation. Practice times are on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
The 10:30 am Mass Choir and Instrumentalists group focuses on traditional choral literature, including works by Palestrina, Bach, Handel and Mozart. Ability to read music is helpful, but not required. If you are interested in playing your instrument (trumpet, flute, violin, etc.) at Masses or on other occasions, your assistance would be most welcome. Mike Lawless directs this choir which practices on Wednesday evenings at 8:30 p.m.
The Youth and Young Adult Choir for middle school and older is at the Noon Mass on the first Sunday of the month. They are directed by Caleb Drummond. Practice times are on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m.
The choirs or a combination thereof sing at special parish events, at Christmas and Easter, and sometimes at community functions. The organist and cantor are used at the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays.
