Extraordinary and Legacy Stewardship

In the fall of 2009, after analyzing, understanding and accepting the future challenges of the parish, it became clear that stewardship of treasure alone would not ensure the financial security of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.  Therefore, a new development and planned giving initiative, called Extraordinary & Legacy Stewardship (ELS) was established for the benefit of the parish and the school.

Important Details about Extraordinary and Legacy Stewardship

  • ELS is people business
  • ELS is a ministry of sharing
  • ELS is founded in the concepts of stewardship
  • ELS is not fundraising which is a short-term, stop-gag measure of generating income
  • ELS is a long-term approach that includes developing and executing a strategic plan, improving public relations, and securing support
  • ELS will address all needs that are above and beyond what our ordinary habits of stewardship can

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School recently received a $15,000 grant from the K.T. Wiedemann Foundation.  The Foundation was established in 1959 by Mr. K.T. Wiedemann.  Mr. Wiedemann, who had business interests in the oil and gas and ranching industries, eventually settled in Wichita, with his wife, Gladys.  St. Thomas Aquinas is proud to be the parish home of the Wiedemanns niece, Mrs. Harriet Blakemore.  The gracious gift from the Foundation will be used to fund school projects that have been postponed due to budgetary restrictions.  Thanks to the K.T. Wiedemann Foundation, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School will be able to continue to provide a progressive academic environment for all students!
