Battle of the Books (BOB) is a voluntary reading program for 5th and 6th graders. The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with students from other schools. The schools in our division are Blessed Sacrament, Magdalen, and Resurrection. Generally three teams of five students attend the competitions. There are three competitions which begin in March and are spaced every other week. The competitions take place after school. A student participates by reading from the book list provided for that year’s Battle of the Books. The school library will have a copy of each book on the list. However, we require every student who is on a team to buy one book to share with the other students. Every student is required to read at least ten books from the list.
